Each level covers one set of letters thoroughly with more than 20 activities – videos, interactive learning activities, and books – for students to work through.
Peak 5 covers these Set 5 sounds: l, h, f, b, ll, ff, ss.
The Peak 5 sequence includes six videos, 14 activities, and four books. Students work through each part on these stepping stones.
The six videos cover four letter sounds, b and d confusion, and double letters.
This Peak includes four books. Students read each book unassisted, and then answer five comprehension questions. If students don’t pass the book quiz, they can listen to the book read aloud.
This peak includes a variety of fun and interesting activities. These reinforce the following skills: letter-sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, sound out and blend, automaticity and fluency, segment for spelling, and reading comprehension. Students must pass each activity to move onto the next part of the lesson.
After stones 6 and 13, students will earn their Yeti base upgrades.
Each Peak ends with a 10‑question assessment quiz. Students must pass this End of Peak Quiz before they can progress onto the next Peak.
Additionally, there are 22 printable pages for this peak: the Peak 5 Phonics booklet and the Peak 5 Handwriting booklet. These are an excellent way to reinforce learning with effective skills practise.
